The metal Cascade Mini Ring is an enhanced open-ring packing with an optimized structure based on the staircase ring design. Typically stamped from metal sheets such as stainless steel, aluminum, or titanium, its height is approximately 40%–60% of its diameter, featuring sidewall windows and inwardly curved flaps. This structure enables multi-point contact when stacked, significantly reducing bed density. Standard sizes range from DN15 to DN80, with a specific surface area of 120–250 m²/m³ and a porosity of 94%–98%. The unique configuration effectively breaks droplets and bubbles, enhancing interphase mass transfer.

Regarding hydrodynamic performance, metal Cascade Mini Rings combine low pressure drop with high throughput. The inwardly curved flaps redirect gas flow, reducing wall flow effects and improving gas-liquid distribution uniformity by approximately 30%–50% compared to traditional Raschig rings. Pressure drop is 15%–25% lower than that of Pall rings of the same size, with flooding gas velocity increased by 10%–20%. These characteristics make them suitable for vacuum distillation, high-pressure absorption, and other processes, particularly maintaining stable efficiency under high gas load conditions.

This packing is widely used in petrochemicals, gas purification, and environmental protection. Typical applications include natural gas desulfurization towers, olefin separation columns, and exhaust gas scrubbers. Installation generally adopts random stacking, though modular structured packing is also feasible. The metal construction ensures long-term stable operation in high-temperature and corrosive environments, with a service life of 8–15 years. Selection requires matching metal materials to system corrosiveness and calculating optimal sizes based on gas-liquid loads.
