Ceramic Pall Rings are a widely used type of random tower packing, manufactured from industrially ceramic materials with high chemical stability, such as alumina porcelain or aluminum silicate porcelain. Their standard shape is a cylindrical ring featuring uniform windows and internal web structures. Common sizes range from DN16 to DN100, with packing quantities approximately from 55,000 to 6,500 pieces per cubic meter, providing a large specific surface area (about 100-450 m²/m³) to enhance mass transfer and reaction between gas and liquid phases. This packing is renowned for its excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, high temperatures (typically up to -200°C to over +1000°C), and thermal shock, making it suitable for harsh chemical environments.


Its structural design is a key advantage. The windows and internal webs on the ring wall significantly improve fluid distribution within the packing bed, reducing wall flow and channeling. Compared to traditional Raschig Rings, Ceramic Pall Rings can increase capacity by over 50%, reduce pressure drop by 40%-70%, and significantly enhance mass transfer efficiency. This structure ensures low pressure drop and high mass transfer efficiency even at high gas velocities, while its robust ceramic material provides high resistance to crushing, resulting in a long service life.


Ceramic Pall Rings are primarily used in packed towers within the chemical, environmental protection, and metallurgical industries. Typical applications include gas absorption, scrubbing, cooling, dust removal, and serving as catalyst supports. For instance, they play a core role in sulfuric acid production, decarbonization and desulfurization systems in fertilizer plants, industrial waste gas purification (e.g., HCl, SO₂ absorption), and acid mist recovery towers. Their corrosion resistance makes them a reliable choice for handling highly corrosive media.
