Ceramic saddle rings are used in various towers and are one of the important materials in tower packing. They are extremely important in terms of mechanical strength and are also the key to the success of mass transfer. In the 1960s, ceramic packing was tried in sulfuric acid production in my country. It has low fluid resistance and good mass transfer performance, but the operable mechanical strength is too low, which leads to an increase in the loss rate of enterprises in transportation, loading and unloading and use, thereby increasing the cost of enterprises. Increasing the wall thickness of the ceramic saddle ring can certainly improve the mechanical strength of the filler, but in actual operation, the gap of the filler layer will become smaller after the thickness increases, the liquid flooding speed will decrease, and the resistance will increase. Therefore, after many experiments, the effect of increasing the mechanical strength by increasing the wall thickness is not significant. At present, the general standard of ceramic fillers is maintained: the wall thickness is equal to 1/10 of the diameter.
